Shareholders with almost 30% of BSkyB are expected to vote against its controversial share buyback proposal at the annual meeting tomorrow. If defeated, it would prevent Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation increasing its stake in the UK satellite broadcaster without making a full takeover bid.
UK shareholders against the motion include L&G Investment Management, Hermes, F&C Asset Management, the University Superannuation Scheme, the Co-operative Insurance Society and several others which did not want to be named.
