BT fund reduces FRS17 deficit by more than half

British Telecommunications (BT) has reduced its final salary pension fund deficit under accounting standard FRS17 from £4bn (€6.4bn) in September 2001 to £1.8bn at the end of March this year.

The UK-based telecoms company attributed the reduction to the strength of capital markets. BT has reduced its equity weighting by &quota modest amount&quot since the first half of last year.
