Buyout funds: Investors continue push for better terms

FN investigates the cost of launching and running a buyout fund

There are many charges investors face when committing to a buyout fund. Not all costs are as transparent as they might initially appear, and they can be significantly higher than a fund’s actual outgoings, especially when a firm manages more than one fund at a time.

But with pressures on liquidity and the expectation of lower returns, institutional investors continue to demand increased transparency, with management fees and transaction charges likely to come under the greatest pressure this year.
