Cairn appoints brokers amid $2bn Bombay float

Merrill Lynch has landed a broking mandate from Cairn Energy for its role in helping the UK blue-chip oil company raise up to $2bn (€1.6bn) in what could be one of India's biggest initial public offerings.

A source close to the deal said: "Cairn's initial public offering will be bigger than RPL and could be one of the biggest ever listed on Bombay."
