Callender quits Japan

Andrew Callender and his fast-growing family are heading back to the UK after his lengthy stint as Invesco chief investment officer, Japan.

Callender is set to become head of special (investment) projects. He will be succeeded in Tokyo by Akira Hiramine who recently joined Invesco from Daiichi Life. Hiramine has poached his former ex-Daiichi colleague, Hideki Miho, to join his team, along with small-cap man Noriko Takahashi (ex-Warburg Dillon Read) and Sanae Sakai (ex-Salomon Brothers). Job opportunities in Japan are developing fast as a result of the recovery in the local market. Established investment houses, led by Nomura, are not attracting talent as strongly as in the past, but Anglo-American firms such as Invesco (owned by Amvescap) are keen to hire.
