Calpers hires new chief investment officer

The $175bn California Public Employees' Retirement System (Calpers), the US's largest pension fund, has hired Daniel Szente as its new chief investment officer.

Szente joins one of the largest pension funds in the world from McGlinn Capital Managment, following the departure of Sheryl Pressler in February. She left Calpers to join Lend Lease Real Estate Investments as chief executive.
