The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has hired veteran deal maker Pascal Keutgens from UK buyout firm Bregal Freshstream, according to a person familiar with the matter, as the Canadian pension giant continues its push into direct investing.

Keutgens joined CPPIB’s London office last week as a senior principal, the person said. He left Bregal Freshstream about six months ago, a spokesman for Bregal said.
