Canadian city pension fund increases private equity

The C$36.4bn (€26.1bn) Ontario Municipality Employees' Retirement System (Omers) is increasing its allocation of private equity.

The fund has more than doubled its holding in private equity and private debt since 1999. Dale Richmond, chief executive of the fund, said it currently invests C$2.5bn in private equity globally and wants to increase this in 2001, though he declined to specify how this would be done.
