Canyon Capital Advisors, the Los Angeles-based hedge fund which has been setting up an operation in the UK, has hired a former trader from Amaranth Advisors' London office.

Xunhua Wong joined Canyon Capital in London last month, according to regulatory filings. The hedge fund opened in London last November, hiring former Putnam Investments fund manager Masroor Siddiqui as chief executive of Europe.
