Carlyle Group plots IPO filing in third quarter

The initial public offering would make Carlyle Group the fourth big US buyout firm to go public in recent years

Carlyle Group expects to file for an initial public offering in the third quarter of 2011 and is interviewing potential underwriters for the process, said a person familiar with the situation.

The company is talking with all the major banks, including Goldman Sachs Group, JP Morgan Chase & Co. and others, and plans to make its choice this month, the person said.
