The Carlyle Group has called on a former corporate strategist from cosmetics company Avon to take on a dealmaking role in the private equity firm's consumer and retail group.

Pauline Brown will be a managing director in Carlyle's 11-person consumer and retail investment team. She will be responsible for sourcing and executing deals in personal care products.
