Carlyle reports on the year its 'world changed'

The founders of The Carlyle Group said last year had been "a humbling experience" for the US private equity firm, which yesterday outlined in its annual report how it liquidated two hedge funds and had three portfolio companies fall into bankruptcy.

Carlyle's founders David Rubenstein, Daniel D'Aniello and William Conway took the opportunity in its annual report letter to reflect on the difficult year for the firm and the industry.
