Carlyle sells art lender to Soros-backed wealth manager for $170m

Carlyle’s financial service platform co-founded Athena with $280m in capital in 2015

Carlyle has sold art speciality lender Athena Art Finance to a wealth management platform backed by billionaire investor George Soros, in a deal valued at $170m.

The purchase is YieldStreet’s first acquisition and comes on the heels of a $62m series B funding, which received investments from Soros Fund Management, according to an announcement by the company.
