The Carlyle Group has received a dividend equal to half of its equity investment in Avio, the Italian aerospace group, following a €375m ($488m) recapitalisation.

Carlyle, which enjoys a strong reputation in the aerospace sector, acquired Avio from Fiat in September 2003 in a €1.5bn leveraged buy-out alongside Finmeccanica, an Italian investment group.
