Peter Ellis, director of business consulting at Deutsche Asset Management (DeAM) UK, had a manpower dilemma that was solved by workflow technology.
The internal fund performance team at the London institutional fund management company serves more than 100 portfolio managers, some requesting ad hoc fund performance reports and others wanting them regularly. To manage the deadline-driven workload, Ellis says supervision and several line managers were needed. 'However, we did not want to bring non-performance supervisors in over fund performance staff, nor did we want to turn fund performance staff into production supervisors.'
