CBOT beats CME as trading hits record levels

Trading volumes on the Chicago Board of Trade, the second largest US and European derivatives exchange, hit record levels this month, but volumes on its larger rival, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange fell.

The Chicago Board's strong rise in volumes comes despite a competitive threat from Eurex US, owned by Eurex, the Swiss-German derivatives exchange, which opened in the US earlier this year.
