CBOT revamps website to show real-time prices

The Chicago Board of Trade is launching a revamped website that will post real-time prices for all CBOT products.

The US exchange says the move is designed to widen access to exchange data, information and services, and hopes to pick up new retail investors as a result. However, a spokesperson at the CBOT confirms it has no plans to develop electronic trading through the site, www.cbot.com. The site will initially be free, although the CBOT plans shortly to introduce a subscription charge of $10 a month. The CBOT hopes the beefed-up site will push forward its e-commerce programme, which should get a lift this week with the launch of a/c/e, its new electronic trading platform developed with Swiss/German derivatives exchange, Eurex.
