David Gilks, former chief operating officer of AXA Investment Management in the UK, has joined Chase Manhattan's custody business.

Gilks, who had responsibility for corporate and operational planning and was a board member of the investment management, property, and unit trust companies at AXA, joins Chase's global investor services division as a managing director.
