Instant-messaging provider Symphony Communication Services has agreed a deal to provide its chat service to users of a Thomson Reuters analytics tool — the latest twist in the ongoing battle to topple Bloomberg's dominance of the market.

Symphony's cloud-based messaging service will be available to customers of Thomson Reuters' Eikon system, which provides news, real-time data, trading and existing messaging tools, according to a statement today. The integration is set to take place later this year.
