The decision to allow foreign firms to market their products in China without local partners is “absolutely huge news” for asset managers and hedge funds looking to do business in the country, according to a senior industry consultant.

In the seventh US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue held in Washington last week, China announced incremental measures that will allow foreign financial firms more flexibility in operating in the country through wholly-owned entities.
