Headhunters pave the way for Chinese invasion

Beijing-based banks are looking at hiring hundreds of investment bankers in London, according to City sources

Chinese banks have hired headhunters and consultants to conduct feasibility studies into building a significant presence in London, according to City sources.

Headhunters and bankers said Chinese banks were examining the possibility of hiring hundreds of staff in London as a first step in their internationalisation. The efforts are seen as an extension of China's plan to liberalise its currency by developing London as an offshore trading hub for the renminbi.
