CIBC World Markets, the investment banking arm of Canadian bank CIBC, has suffered the loss of a second senior manager in a week after Michael Barnes, the executive director of financial sponsored leverage, left to join Hawkpoint, the independent UK corporate finance advisory firm.

Last week Jonathan Rowland, managing director and head of the European financial sponsors group at CIBC World Markets, joined Citigroup as a managing director in its European financial entrepreneurs group.
