Citi boosts European energy business

Citi has hired a new head of freight trading in London, the US bank's latest appointment under Paul Mead, the former Barclays Capital managing director brought in last year to build its European energy trading and commodities business.

Boudewijn van Vliet, a former senior trader of forward freight agreements at US commodities trading group Cargill, joins Citi in September reporting directly to Mead.
