Citi tells London staff to work at home if possible as banks U-turn on office return

'Our London facilities remain fully Covid-19 compliant and open for those colleagues who cannot effectively perform their roles from home,' said a memo to Citi employees

Citigroup became the latest bank to instruct employees to work from home if possible as England braces for another lockdown later this week.

"The government has advised that, if you can work effectively from home, you must do so," a memo from Europe, Middle East and Africa boss David Livingstone and James Bardrick, its UK head, seen by Financial News, says. "Our London facilities remain fully Covid-19 compliant and open for those colleagues who cannot effectively perform their roles from home. If you have a personal need to work from the office, or are in any doubt as to what you should be doing from Thursday, please contact your manager."
