Citigroup has handed its UK staff an extra four days holiday a year in another attempt by the US bank to give it an edge over rivals by improving work-life balance.

The bank has increased holiday allowance for new employees in the UK to 27 days, according to an internal memo seen by Financial News — an increase of around four days. Staff who have worked at the bank for two years will receive 28 days annual leave, which increases to 29 after five years and 30 after a decade with the firm. New UK employees at Citigroup were previously offered 23 days of vacation, rising to 25 days after five years with the firm.
