Citi fined $15 million over equity research

Financial Industry Regulatory Authority says unit failed to prevent communication breaches

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority fined Citigroup $15 million for failing to prevent its equity research staff from breaches including the sharing of ideas at meetings in conflict with the firm’s published research.

The settlement is the fourth research-related settlement since the beginning of 2012 for Citigroup. The bank neither admitted nor denied the charges, but consented to Finra's findings.
