Citigroup job cuts to reach 5,000-plus

More than half of the latest 3,500 job losses planned by Citigroup, the world's largest financial services group, will be lost in the US.

The cuts mean that Citigroup will have axed more than 5,300 jobs since the start of this year, including 1,200 workers from its Salomon Smith Barney investment banking division.
