Citigroup has surpassed rival Goldman Sachs as the top global adviser so far this year, after it yesterday worked on takeovers worth over $100bn (€74bn), including the largest cross-border acquisition in the Middle East.
Following a day which Frank Yeary, head of Citigroup's global M&A, called "Merger Monday," the US bank took the total value of deals advised on this year to $759.3bn, according to Thomson Financial, the data provider.
