Citigroup's Weill to retire in 2006

Prince to be CEO

Sandy Weill, chairman of Citigroup, has promoted Chuck Prince to chief executive and Robert Willumstad to chief operating officer but will remain as chairman until 2006.

The bank said that Weill, who will remain in charge of the board until the 2006 annual shareholders meeting, would focus on the company's "relationships with customers and officials and providing input on strategic issues".
