City leaders appointed to push industry to diversify its senior ranks

Members include senior execs from Barclays, Santander and the Investment Association

Thirty leaders from across the financial and professional services industry have joined a new government-backed task force to improve socio-economic diversity in the sector’s most senior ranks.

The appointments, which include management from banks Barclays and Santander, come as the corporate sector faces calls to further diversify its leadership levels amid a pandemic that has disproportionately impacted people from lower-income backgrounds and Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
