City minister ‘surprised’ by Europe’s approach to equivalence in Brexit talks

Glen’s comments come days after the UK’s post-Brexit proposals for the City were rebuffed

City minister John Glen has told a parliamentary committee that he was “surprised” by the masses of paperwork produced by Europe’s Brexit negotiators as both sides try to determine their future relationship.

The EU had sent over a thousand detailed questionnaires, including 248 in late May, compared to the one and a half pages of questions sent by the UK, Glen told an EU services sub-committee on 2 July.
