The City of London has called on the UK government to act in order to stop thousands of jobs leaving the capital ahead of the UK’s impending exit from the European Union.

Catherine McGuinness, chair of the City of London Corporation’s influential policy committee, said politicians could prompt "unnecessary" shifts out of the UK if they do not provide foreign citizens with clarity over what their post-Brexit immigration status will be "as soon as possible".
