The UK government has begun revisiting the rules aimed at reducing gender inequalities in the labour market, which could see companies with as few as 50 staff having to report their gender pay gap for the first time.

The move would have significant implications for the City with hundreds of smaller organisations, particularly those in the male-dominated world of private equity, hedge funds and fintech, being required to reveal the breakdown in pay between men and women.
