City pledges to make Square Mile carbon neutral by 2040

The local authority promised to be carbon neutral in its own operations by 2027

The City of London's local government said it would reduce net carbon emissions in the Square Mile to zero by 2040, a decade ahead of Whitehall's target for the country as a whole.

The City of London Corporation said on 8 October that it will create 800 "green" jobs by investing £68m in initiatives that combat climate change over the next six years.
