Clearstream calls on public sector to help reduce trading costs

A leading market infrastructure provider has called on European governments to ramp up their efforts to help reduce the cost of trading in the region.

Jeffrey Tessler, chief executive of Clearstream, said that a lot of work had been done on reducing the cost of clearing and settling securities in Europe but added: "There is one element missing. The public sector has done virtually nothing."
