Clearstream signals Asian ambitions

Clearstream, the settlement arm of German exchange group Deutsche Börse, has hired a member of a rival's Japanese operations in the latest sign of its growing ambitions in Asia.

The Luxembourg-based clearing house appointed Toshio Akiba, a relationship manager at Euroclear Bank’s Tokyo office, as its deputy chief representative in the city.
