The Competition and Markets Authority has been criticised for allowing top staff to spend tens of thousands of pounds on business-class flights and other expenses.

The antitrust watchdog’s latest expenses log shows that chief executive Sarah Cardell billed nearly £14,000 for business-class flights and accommodation for a conference in San Francisco in January. Cardell then spent another £6,500 on US flights the following month.
