Commerzbank is in the early stages of discussions to outsource its IT for the investment banking group, with computer and solutions company IBM mooted as one of the possible partners.

A Commerzbank spokesman said: "We are talking to computer services companies about outsourcing the hardware and software of the investment banking business."
