Commonwealth Bank of Australia is understood to have pulled out of takeover talks with Edinburgh Fund Managers (EFM), which recently received revised bid proposals from Hermes.
Rob Adams, chief executive of Commonwealth's First State Investments fund management arm, declined to comment on the bid situation, but he said: "I can confirm that we have been in discussions, and that we did not find anything wrong at EFM."
