Listed companies that are leading the way in socially responsible investment have failed to make their case to the City of London, according to a report from Business in the Environment, the UK business-led campaign group.

Asked to name the most important factors taken into account when judging companies, 13% of companies' own investor relations managers deemed environmental and social issues important, but the figure was much lower among institutional investors, analysts, and financial journalists, ranging between 3% and 4%, according to the report, Investing in the Future.
