Investment consultants in the City of London have backed Schroders' head of investments Peter Harrison to succeed Michael Dobson at the helm of the asset manager, following a report in the Financial Times that the CEO plans to step down.

A spokeswoman for Schroders declined to comment on the March 2 report, which said Dobson, who has led the group since 2001, would remain in charge to implement an orderly succession.
