Credit Suisse apologises after report of afro wigs at chairman’s party

Former Chief Executive Tidjane Thiam reportedly walked out of an event where people wearing afro wigs danced onstage

Credit Suisse apologized after a report described an event last year where a Black employee dressed as a janitor and people wearing afro wigs took to the stage.

A New York Times report on 3 October said then-Chief Executive Tidjane Thiam walked out of the event after the incident. The event was to celebrate Chairman Urs Rohner’s 60th birthday party, where the Times report detailed a Studio 54-themed party featuring 1970s performers and a number of Rohner’s friends wearing the wigs.
