Property should be upgraded from an alternative to a core asset class within pension fund asset allocations, according to Credit Suisse Asset Management.

CSAM said its research shows that property has outperformed other asset classes over three, five and 10 years, and returns of 9% are forecast this year, supported by underlying yields of 7.1%.
