Credit Suisse’s bonus bill rose by 6% last year, in part because of efforts to keep staff in the group’s investment banking businesses from leaving.
In its annual report published today, Credit Suisse said total compensation for 2016 was broadly flat at 10.6 billion Swiss francs ($10.6 billion). But variable pay rose from Sfr2.9 billion in 2015 to just over Sfr3 billion.
