Crisis-hit Refco calls back Goldman

S&P cuts rating for second time in four days, NYSE suspends shares

Refco, the US futures broker at the centre of an accounting scandal, yesterday appointed Goldman Sachs as financial adviser. The bank led the group's stock market flotation two months ago.

The appointment came as Refco started winding down the biggest part of its business, and its shares were suspended on the New York Stock Exchange, two-thirds below their flotation price.
