Just a few weeks ago, 300 of Credit Suisse’s top dealmakers gathered in New York to hear the vision for the Swiss bank’s new ‘super-boutique’ CS First Boston.

“People were buzzing,” said one banker who attended. “The strategy was set out and the ambitions were high.”
