Credit Suisse First Boston has beaten nine rivals to win a mandate to advise the Romanian government on the $920m (€760m) initial public offering of Romtelecom, Romania's leading fixed-line phone provider. It is set to be the country's largest flotation to date.

The Romanian government is set to sell its entire 46% stake in the telecommunication company within the next six months, according to CSFB.
