CSFB, Deutsche and Merrill sign up for Dubai financial centre

Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch have applied for commercial banking licenses from the Dubai Financial Services Authority, the regulatory body that opened its new financial centre for business on Monday.

The official opening of the Dubai International Financial Centre comes three months after the group sacked its two chief regulators, Ian Hay Davison and Philip Thorpe, raising questions over standards of corporate governance at the new venture.
