Datamonitor, the business information firm, has hired Michael Murphy, chief executive of Friends Reunited, the school reunion website, as a non-executive director.

Murphy previously spent 20 years with Pearson, the publishing firm, where he was managing director and then chief operating officer of the Financial Times, the business newspaper.
