Mountevans hopes UK Chancellor's settlement will go further

There were more than 110,000 non-doms at the last count, many working in or providing business for the City

The one-year term of the Lord Mayor of London is, by most standards, remarkably short. Yet when it comes to the political and regulatory climate in which the City operates, the last 12 months have proved an age.

A year ago, when Alan Yarrow had just started his stint in the Mansion House, he railed against regulatory over-reach and a Financial Conduct Authority that was "losing the support of the industry".
